Friday Letters Link Up

I'm trying a new thing this week and linking up with Adventures of Newlyweds for Friday Letters.
Dear COA computers,  I really for the life of me can't understand why you insist on giving me so many issues. I'll just say that Emily backs me up on this. I will not miss you.

You are a blessed person if you've never seen this notice before.
Dear COA Dean, cupcake night in the labs the week before dead week is a fantastic tradition you've brought. Every semester I am happily surprised. Cupcakes bring a piece of sunshine in our dungeon work cellsfantastic new computer labs.

Dear Capstone,  I am so proud to say that you are DONE! No longer shall you wreck my poor mind. I can't believe I've finished you. I even got to hand render you which is awesome because I love working with my hands. For all the pain you've brought, I am fairly proud of your final production and I still enjoy you. That being said, I really cannot wait till after Wednesday when I'll truly be done with you and studio project foreverrrrr!!!

Hand rendering
Dear Almost Husband, I am so thankful for you. You've endured my angry meltdowns in this past month or so, you've helped me complete my capstone, and you've loved me through it all. You're more than I could ever hope for, imagine or request in my wildest dreams ( we should include that part of Ephesians 3:20 in our marriage covenant). So glad I got some time with you tonight even if it meant ignoring management.
A muchly needed date night

Dear Weekend, I am so glad you're here! I need to get a lot done during your existence so please don't tease me too much with sunshine and nice weather. Can't wait to enjoy our wedding shower during your time as well.
-Dear fellow ID seniors, as Dori might say, just keep rendering, just keep rendering...
- Push through to the end my friends by leaning on your Savior ( had to work on this one a lot this week)
-Try and find joy even when it seems like there is none (don't worry, I definitely failed in this area this week)

She's Legal!

Watch out world because my little sister turned 18 today! You're legal Gina! You can vote this exciting is that?!?

Seems like just the other day we were playing around, making crafts, building dollhouses, playing in the sand and making tons of silly faces. Your life is about to take a huge jump as you embark into the college life this fall. I know you're going to be a fantastic student and I pray you get all out of college that you dream of.

But for today, enjoy celebrating 18 years! I hope you know how much I love you, how proud I am of you and how much unexpected joy you've brought to my life. Thank you for shaping me into the big sister I am.You truly taught me how to bring laughter into any situation. You'll always be my best friend. Always reach for your dreams, seek the Lord with all your heart and never be afraid to be you.

Everyone, meet Ginger:

Terrific Thursday

Today was a pretty great day. It started out with a normal but good day at work. Then we had our first real session of pre-marital counseling with Adam and are both so thankful for his homework challenges and advise as we press forward. On our drive home we decided to stop at this little side of the road sale. It's like an everyday garage sale at ...ironically a garage, but not a home garage like a car garage shop.

Anyway, we stopped and we found this gem:

And for 15 bucks! We were sold. I love the precious shape of the legs and it's solid wood. While it has a slightly rough top, all it needs is some loving tender care in the sanding department. Kevin and I are excited for this craft project for a weekend sometime this summer. Now for chairs. :)

- Enjoy the little things of everyday life
- Don't miss an opportunity for a bargain
- Don't be afraid to roll your sleeves up and get a little dirty

The wedding is approaching with ever quickening speed and there's still so much happening between now and then! These next few weeks are going to be absolutely insane, and then it'll only pick back up again with final wedding arrangements.

However, despite the crazyness that is life right now, we've got several things to celebrate:

For one, we started pre-marital counseling with Adam Barnett and we are so excited to see what God is going to teach us through this awesome man of God.
This is Adam and his precious family...they've got a second beautiful child on the way.

Second, we received our first couple of wedding gifts in the mail! So fun!
Our first grown-up pillow shams!

Third, we have been officially approved to live at Cedar Lake! Woohooo! Hoping to get our keys on May 10th. Just in time to see it, graduate and utilize all those helping hands, and dad's truck, that same weekend.
This is our floorplan. I love it and it met with all of our wishlist items, well mostly.

Fourth, this past weekend we celebrated Christ raising from the dead and giving us new life! Thank you God for your Son and for giving us freedom to follow You.
We hid Easter eggs in our walkers classroom at church, one year olds are so much fun!
Fifth, We recived this super fun mail. Did you know you can invite Mickey and Minnie Mouse to your wedding?

Sixth, God loves us and we love each other, that is something to be thankful about everyday. 52 days!

My goal these next few weeks is to cherish each day ( even though deep down I'm wishing so badly I was past May 2nd and all it's terribleness).

So, thank you God for this new day, thank you for refreshing your promises with each new day, awaken my soul to the small things to be thankful for today. Thank you for loving me, thank you for saving me, thank you for caring for me. In your remarkably gracious Name, Amen.

- Sometimes it helps to reflect on your day and write what you experience that you can be thankful for
-Pray throughout the day, this is something I'm learning to do more too
-Enjoy the small things in life each day.

Sweet Friendship

In my wildest dreams I never imagined college would bring me such fabulous friendships. Being one of four students from my high school to come to OU, I knew I was going to have to make new friends...and that terrified me. Every prayer before my venture to Norman, Oklahoma included a plea for solid friendships rooted in Christ.

Fast forward to my first steps onto campus, move-in day 2008, my dad and I were greeted by two friendly girls who helped move some of my crazy amount of belongings. One of them got my phone number and later invited me to activities with the Baptist Student Union (which I'd been hoping to find out more information about), she's married to one my fiance's close friends. God, simply God.

Day two, Saturday, quiet meager person that I am, talked to the one girl on my hall that I sorta knew via Camp Crimson and together we attended this How to get involved on campus meeting. Sitting in the front row, one girl politely asks about churches in the area, she got little response. Meeting is over and what is God telling me? Go talk to that girl Veronica, you're going to Bethel Baptist in the morning with someone, invite her to come along...Me: umm no, I don't talk to people I don't know God, seriously....(more nudging from God....)...okay, okay fine. I'm telling you people this act of bravery was all God inside me, not me, no sir, I didn't go up to random strangers, even nice polite pretty girls my age.. but for whatever reason God gave me the courage in that moment and I invited this girl to go with me to church (with the one other person on this campus I knew, not from my high school, whom I also met via camp crimson). That girl was Kayla Bowden. She quickly became my best friend here in college. We were fascinated by the remarkable similarities to one another (negating the fact that Kayla was/is a jock genius and I'm so not). We tried out different churches, went to activities, ate together, and figured out college life together. God, simply God.

Meet Bestie, She's part of us.

Another story, for another time, is how I got connected to Phi Lamb...but anyway fast forward again with me here for a moment. I began talking to a girl in Phi Lamb, who was also in interior design with me. We talked about her super heroes writing  class, seriously I did not relate, as we walked back to the dorms from class, we carpooled to ArchOnMain ( architecture building on campus was being remodeled so we had class off campus in an old Hobby Lobby store) and we sat near each other in studio. As time went by, for whatever reason she and I decided we should live together. I'd find someone, and she'd find someone and we'd rent something or another. Not sure why we thought this was a good idea, I mean we barely knew each other...and I didn't really know this other girl she hung out with much either. The summer before we were going to move in together I prayed fervently that we'd all get along okay. These two girls were Emily Reed and Kristina Kave. My best friends, and roommates of nearly 3 years now. I wouldn't trade a single moment with them for anything in this world. God, simply God.

God has blessed me with several more friendships in college but these three stand out the most and have been with me through the ups and downs that come with life. I am so honored to call them my friends. So once again: God, simply God.

Pictures taken by Sam Norman. You can see them all here.

- Trust the Lord your God to bring your friendships beyond what you can dream
- Be willing to take that first scary step
- Friendships are worth it!
